Josie is the kind of girl that lights up the room with her big smile and infectious attitude.  She is a part of our Growing Gorillas program at Straight Blast Gym Sandy Springs and one of our most consistent students.  Josie first started doing jiu jitsu while in 2nd grade after struggling to find a sport that kept her interest.  Josie tells us about getting into jiu jitsu with SBG:

“When I was in second grade I didn’t have a sport. My parents tried to get me to play any sport but I was stubborn and didn’t really like anything. Then, my dad found this sport called Jui-Jitsu. It looked cool, so I decided to try it. We went to Coach Daren’s place and I tried it there and I was instantly hooked.”

Josie trained with Coach Daren and picked up the movements really quickly.  By attending regularly and giving Coach’s Daren and Sean her undivided attention, most of the time ;-), she has quickly found herself being one of the leaders of our Sandy Springs location.
When asked why she enjoys doing jiu jitsu at SBG, Josie has this to say:

“I like everything. Everything’s fun, and I learn something new everyday. I also like how the coaches are all really fun and that frequently there are tournaments.”

Kid’s Jiu Jitsu coach Sean Coleman added this about Josie:

“Josie has an incredible attitude and is very coachable.  She is great to have in class when there are new kids in class or a new student is feeling sheepish.  She always greets them with a smile and a welcoming attitude.”

Great job Josie! Keep up the awesome work!
